\nThe Mission Bay Aquatic Center is now hiring instructors and camp counselors in the areas of wakeboarding<\/a>, sailing<\/a>, surfing<\/a>, windsurfing<\/a>, kayaking<\/a>, and stand up paddle boarding<\/a>. While we need people of all levels of experience to fill all of our positions, it is often a challenge to find instructors who have a high level of skill in particular sports like wakeboarding or sailing.\u00a0 So if you have grown up driving your parent’s wakeboard boat,\u00a0or have spent your summers\u00a0perfecting your sailing skills, you are especially encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n

Potential wakeboard instructors<\/a>\u00a0will\u00a0need to be able to earn a\u00a0US Coast Guard OUPV Certification (Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessel) which requires having experience driving inboard boats.\u00a0 Sailing\u00a0instructors<\/a>\u00a0will\u00a0earn their US Sailing Small Boat Instructor Certification as part of training to become an instructor.\u00a0\u00a0Experienced surf instructors<\/a> and stand up paddling instructors<\/a> are also needed for more skilled instructor positions.<\/p>\n

But overall the key to being a successful instructor at MBAC is a passion for watersports and a desire to share that passion with others.\u00a0\u00a0So for the candidate who doesn’t have a huge amount of experience but still loves watersports, a job as a camp counselor<\/a> might be a better fit.<\/p>\n

“If you have a passion for working with kids becoming a camp counselor is the position for you,\u201d says Scott Grant, MBAC Camp Supervisor. \u201cNot only will this opportunity allow you to expand your experience with various water sports, but you will love your job and share your passion for the water with the next generation of surfers, wakeboarders, sailors, and paddlers.\u201d<\/p>\n
