MBAC Instructor receives national recognition during International Women in Science Day

Recently, MBAC resident Marine Science Program Assistant, Sara Rosenblatt, was recognized by U.S. Sailing for her achievements in developing STEM programs for kids as part of International Women and Girls in Science Day. Sara, an SDSU Marine Ecology Masters candidate and U.S. Sailing Reach educator, has worked diligently to develop a marine science program at MBAC that inspires interest in ocean conservation, and develops lifelong connections to the ocean through real world experiences.

Registration Now Open For February After School Enrichment Program

As both parents and kids are needing an outlet to get out of the house and into an active, outdoor environment registration is now open for special one week February After School Enrichment session. This program will run Tuesday-Friday, February 23-26 and will provide kids and parents the break they need from the virtual classroom and the opportunity to socialize outdoors with other kids. Campers can choose between our Marine Science or Sailing and Discovery options for a week of after school fun from 2pm-5pm.

If you’ve ever been curious about what microscopic critters are living in Mission Bay, then you should become a marine scientist for a day in our STEM Explorations: Microscopic Mysteries activity on Sunday, October 20th from 9:00am-11:30am. In this fun and educational program students will collect and get a face to face with planktonic organisms that, though small, have a BIG impact on our entire planet!

Explore beneath the surface in our ROV Design Challenge

The ocean covers around 70% of the Earth’s surface but remains largely unexplored, leaving humans to dream about what might be hidden within its depths. However, with new technology, the aid of bright young minds, and human ingenuity we are coming even closer to discovering what lies beneath the surface. The Mission Bay Aquatic Center invites kids to participate in our STEM Explorations: ROV Design Challenge on Saturday, November 9th where they can practice the concepts that scientists confront to explore our underwater world.
