The Mission Bay Aquatic Center invites students between the ages of 6-17 to take part in a special STEM Explorations- The Ocean, Clean Water and YOU event in honor of Coastal Cleanup Day on September 21st from 9:00am to 11:30am. This program provides a unique opportunity for students to explore human’s important relationship with the ocean through hands-on, interactive activities that inspire stewardship and empower students to facilitate real change in their community.

Explore beneath the surface in our ROV Design Challenge
The ocean covers around 70% of the Earth’s surface but remains largely unexplored, leaving humans to dream about what might be hidden within its depths. However, with new technology, the aid of bright young minds, and human ingenuity we are coming even closer to discovering what lies beneath the surface. March 2nd-10th San Diego is celebrating STEM Week, a week of activities dedicated to igniting passion for STEM education, including at Mission Bay Aquatic Center (MBAC), where kids can explore our underwater world by participating in an ROV Design Challenge on Sunday, March 3.

Classroom to Coast program introduces youth to sailing and science
Science, sailing, and ocean stewardship merged together for 45 students from Gompers Academy in MBAC’s first Classroom to Coast program. The program consisted of 4 classroom visits by MBAC instructors culminating in a field trip to MBAC to learn to sail. Each days activities were designed to promote student-driven learning and correlated with Next Generation Science Standards. Read More
